Porsche unveiled a fully electric version of its Cayenne SUV on Wednesday, calling it the “most powerful” production vehicle ever made by the German sports car maker.
The 2026 Cayenne EV is capable of producing 1,139 horsepower, going from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds and up to 1,106 foot-pounds of torque, according to Porsche. Its top speed can reach 162 mph, the company said.
The car that previously held the title of “Most Powerful Porsche on the Road” was the Taycan Turbo GT with 1,019 horsepower.

To achieve the vehicle’s peak performance, Porsche said a launch mode must be activated. In normal driving mode, the vehicle develops up to 844 horsepower.
A top-of-the-line “Turbo Electric” model starts at $163,000, making it one of the most expensive Porsches on the market. A standard model with less performance – 402 horsepower and 615 foot-pounds of torque – starts at $109,000.
The electric Cayenne features a 113-kilowatt-hour battery and an 800-volt electrical architecture system capable of charging from 10 percent to 80 percent in less than 16 minutes, Porsche said. The new electric vehicle is also the first Porsche to offer inductive or wireless charging, but at a much slower rate than traditional rechargeable charging.
Porsche said orders for the electric Cayenne are open and deliveries are expected to begin in late summer next year.

The launch of the all-electric SUV comes two months after Porsche confirmed it was withdrawing its previously announced electric vehicle plans to continue offering vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, including hybrids.
“We have set the final steps in the realignment of our product strategy,” Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said in a September statement. “We are currently experiencing massive changes in the automotive environment. That is why we are realigning Porsche at all levels.”
The electric vehicle market in the United States – a crucial region for automakers – has faced drastic regulatory changes this year under the Trump administration, including the end of consumer credits of up to $7,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle.

The Cayenne EV will be offered alongside a combustion engine model as well as a plug-in hybrid electric version, according to Porsche.
The Cayenne is Porsche’s third electric vehicle for the American market after the Taycan in 2019 and the Macan in 2024.
