The brains behind the blow Netflix The “Stranger Things” series has signed a new agreement.
The Duffer Brothers, the creative team of Matt and Ross Duffer, signed an exclusive four -year agreement with PrimordialNewly merged with Skydance, for feature films, television and streaming projects.
The financial conditions of the agreement have not been disclosed.
The Duffer Brothers contract with Netflix ended in April 2026. During this closure, images upside down, led by the brothers and the production partner Hilary Leavitt, will begin to develop projects for Paramount Pictures, Paramount Television and Paramount Direct-to-Consumer.
“We could not be more delighted to join the Paramount family,” said Matt and Ross Duffer in a joint declaration on Tuesday, adding that “bringing bold original films on the big screen … is not only exciting – it is the accomplishment of a dream for life.”
The Duffer Brothers are best known for “Stranger Things”, a series of science fiction horror which should broadcast its fifth and last season on Netflix later this fall. The couple also wrote and directed the film of psychological thriller “Hidden” 2015 and was involved in the production of “Wayward Pines”, which lasted Fox for two seasons from 2015.
The pair has two projects in preparation for Netflix – “Something very bad will happen” and “The Boroughs” – and plans to build the “Stranger Things” franchise. The brothers said they would remain involved with Netflix for these projects.
The agreement with the Duffer brothers comes soon after Paramount officially merged with Skydance. The president and chief executive officer, David Ellison, said in an open letter earlier this month that the company would invest in “a high-quality narration and advanced technology” to help “define the next era of entertainment”.
