The best Democrats in the Chamber have announced an investigation and demand responses from the AG Pam Bondi and the director of the FBI Kash Patel on the legality of the use of federal resources to track down the Democratic legislators of the Texas State.

The Chamber’s judicial democrats announced the investigation in a statement:

TODAY, rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the Committee on the Judiciary, rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, rep. Greg Casar, and rep. Jasmine Crockett, Vice Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, asked for Answers from US Attorney General Pamela Bondi and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Director Kash Paterting the Reported Use of Federal Law Enforcement Resources for Purely Political Fins. Legislators sent a letter In Bondi and Patel following the information according to which the FBI had agreed to help the Texas Republicans to find legislators from the Texas States who have left the State to block republican efforts to Gerryon the districts of the State Congress before the mid-term elections next year.

Members have pressed the Ministry of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI to clarify if they are involved in these efforts. If they are, the members demanded that the DOJ and the FBI provide the legal basis and the justification of these actions, as well as details on any use of resources, tools and systems funded by federal taxpayers in this case.

So far, the Republicans have been very vague about what the FBI does, but the legislators want answers:

We write with great concern about the abuse of federal public security resources for political purposes and without justification of the police which would take place now. We demand information on the participation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in efforts to locate or apprehend the members of the Texas House of Representatives who are not accused of any federal crime but which chose to break the quorum during the current legislative session.

Senator John Cornyn said that the FBI helps Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to identify or locate the legislators of the Democratic State who have left the State to counter the aggressive measures of President Trump to consolidate power by restoring the district lines of the Congress in Texas to prevent a democratic majority investigation in the House of Representatives.

These reports suggest that the FBI divert the federal police forces far from fighting terrorism, drug trafficking and other federal crimes to harass and target the duly elected representatives of Texans, and thus raise urgent issues on the legal basis, the scale and the relevance of the federal implication of the application of the laws in a political problem.

Democrats have raised a big point. If Trump diverts resources from keeping the country in security, he committed not only in an abuse of power, but he also endangers the American people.

The Democrats of Texas House did not commit a crime. It is a state affair. There is no role for the FBI or the federal police in this situation.

It is not enough for Democrats to support the Democrats of the Chamber with cheers or even resources. Democrats must also use the tools they have to retaliate to ensure the security of Democrats in Texas.

Pressure on Republicans must come from all levels, and the best Democrats in the Chamber have an essential role in the holding of the responsible Trump administration.
