It is time for a dose of honesty, Sunday shows are terrified by Donald Trump and they come out of their way of framing any criticism as sweet as possible. For decades, the shows have presented more Republicans than democratic guests, and it is rare for a democratic guest to be in one of the programs and face the reality of Trump.
One of these moments occurred to meet the press when Kristen Welker questioned Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Trump’s statements concerning Los Angeles, “then senator, let me ask you about it. The officials had this situation under control?”
Schiff replied:
Yes I do it. And, you know, call the president’s declaration what it is. And it’s just a lie outright. The idea that Los Angeles would have burned on the ground is absurd. These events took place in a multi-block area of a city of 500 square miles. Our police and sheriff office and our road patrol are more than capable of facing this. And if they did not – were not, the mayor and the governor would ask for help from our guard. It was not done. It was not necessary. And I think it’s just that Donald Trump did what he wanted to do in the first administration, which was mainly used the army for the application of national laws, to make himself difficult.
In the first administration, there were at least a few people in the cabinet of a certain independence that could say: “No, Mr. President. It is an idea without law. It is a stupid idea.” But there is no one in this current administration to tell the president: “It is a stupid idea. It will worsen things.” And these are just sycophants, the Stephen Millers and the Kristi Noem and all the others. And so we see that – this terrible climbing, this growing anarchy. The district court was right – to find it without law. Now that the Marines are engaged in an arrest, at least one arrest and a detention, this will then be disputed. And I think it will also be judged without law.
