American airlines The financial director said Thursday that some travelers avoid Newark Liberty International Airport for other options in the region after a series of recent disruptions, but have warned that the impact is “modest”.
“There are probably a certain amount of books from Newark flights in the Laguardia, JFK, perhaps in Philadelphia to a lesser extent,” said director Devon May at the Wolfe research conference.
The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered Airlines this week to temporarily reduce flights to Newark to relieve congestion while carriers are struggling with a shortage of air traffic controllers, equipment failures and track construction at New Jersey airport. Bad weather has also added to disturbances in recent weeks.

American has a market share of around 4% in Newark, according to the most recent data from the Port Authority in New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport with Laguardia airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, both in Queens, New York.
“Something is happening there, but I think it's relatively modest when you think of the wider network,” said May of American.
United Airlines Eclips all other Airlines in Newark with its share by almost 70%. This carrier had proactively announced discounts of 35 flights per day earlier this month to put more soft in the system.
Earlier this month, transport secretary, Sean Duffy, said the United States will spend billions to revise the aging American air traffic control system.
President Donald Trump’s tax bill, which adopted the room early Thursday, includes $ 12.5 billion for modernizing air traffic control and staff.
