It took a while for the Democrats of the Senate to get there, but it seems that they are mainly aboard the place where their voters want them to be. The Democrats of the Senate are in the minority, but unlike the room, the senators have at least procedural movements they can use to slow down things and block the agenda of Trump. Last week, we discussed how The Senate Republicans feel exhausted and frustrated because the Democrats slow down everything and crushed the Senate.
The Senate Democrat, Chuck Schumer, did his part to slow down the Trump administration and protest using his blue slip to block two of Trump’s candidates to be American lawyers in New York.
Schumer said in a press release:
Donald Trump clearly indicated that he had no loyalty to the law and intends to use the Ministry of Justice, the offices of American lawyers and the police as weapons to continue his perceived enemies.
These blatant and depraved political motivations are deeply corrosive to the rule of law and leave me deeply skeptical about the intentions of Donald Trump for these important positions. For this reason, I will not return the blue slip for the candidates for the American lawyer for the South and Oriental districts of New York.
