A video emerged in publications on social networks in Chinese language alongside an assertion that he shows that American consumers bought a panic after US President Donald Trump announced “reciprocal rates” in early April.
But the complaint is false. The images have not been recent and unrelated to the prices. He was born from a Tiktok video shared by NBC6 in February 2025, during an avian flu epidemic which caused egg shortages and price increases.
The video was shared on Weibo on April 9, 2025.
The one -minute and 45 -second video shows that people buy bulk eggs.
“The United States waged a trade war and go eggs at the same time – Americans rush for eggs,” said video legend.

In early April, Trump announced a new series of “reciprocal prices”, aimed at equaling or going beyond import rights that other countries impose on American goods.
While the prices on certain nations have been temporarily suspended for 90 days, Trump increased his rights specifically on Chinese imports, saying that this decision was conceived as a means of protecting American industries and countering unfair business practices.
But the complaint regarding the video published on Weibo is false.
An inverse image search found that part of the clip was published by US Media Outlet NBC6 in February.
According to the point of sale, the video was initially published by a user of Tiktok during a period of egg shortage caused by an avian flu epidemic and the resulting price peaks – not by prices or a trade war.
A comparison has shown that the images between seconds 13 and 27 in Weibo’s video corresponded exactly to clip NBC6. Other segments of the same video were also published on social networks in February.
In addition, a Weibo user published on April 5 saying that the Americans bought Panic Purchase products in supermarkets.
The message included a subtitled video: “The prices are increasing, the Americans rush to buy Chinese products”, showing that buyers grabbed Hisense brand televisions.

But AFCL had already demystified this during a fact verifier in 2023, showing that the original video was published in November 2018 by the Youtube channel “Viralhog”.
He documented a Black Friday shopping event in the United States
In 2023, Chinese diplomat Zhang Heqing reused the same clip, wrongly affirming that he has shown the Americans the frantically purchase of hoistant televisions after President Biden imposed import restrictions on Chinese products.
