One of the most frustrating elements of how traditional media cover Trump is the frequency with which they operate with the framing of the administration.
For example, the White House said Trump would sign a decree making English the official language of the United States.

Executive orders are not laws, so Trump cannot make English the official language of the whole country. The decrees guide and teach the executive power of the way in which they implement the law.
THE AP, Apart from their title on Trump, making English the official language, has done a good job to explain what the act will mean in real terms:
The order will allow government agencies and organizations that receive federal funding to choose to continue to offer documents and services in a language other than English, according to an information sheet on the imminent order.
The executive decree annulra a mandate of former president Bill Clinton who demanded the government and the organizations which have received federal funding to provide linguistic assistance to non -English speakers.
Anyone who receives federal funding will be obliged not to offer non -English services and documents, but that’s what Trump wants. The federal government will probably stop offering non -English services.
22% In the United States, people speak a language other than English at home. 13.2% of people in the United States speak Spanish. In total, 68 million people in the United States speak a language other than English.
Given these figures from the American census, it is clear who Trump, with this decree. They are mainly Hispanophone and non -white residents.
If a citizen who speaks Spanish tries to contact the federal government, he may not be able to obtain help, even if he is a legal resident and a taxpayer.
Imagine paying social security and encountering a problem, but when you contact the Social Security Office, there is no help available because they only offer English services.
This is the situation that Trump sets up. Trump cuts access to government documents and services to non -English speakers.
The decree does not really consist in making English the official language. The decree consists in harming people who are not white in the United States.
