KFC leaves Kentucky.
The American headquarters of the Frit chicken chain will leave Louisville, Kentucky, Plano, Texas, owner Yum brands said Tuesday.
About 100 US employees KFC will have to move over the next six months.
Relocation is part of Yum’s wider plan to have two head offices: one in Plano, the other in Irvine, in California. The World KFC and Pizza Hut teams are already based in Plano, while the Taco Bell teams and The Habit Burger & Grill are located in Irvine.
In addition, Yum’s American remote workforce, around 90 workers, will also be invited to move to the campus where their work is based.
But Yum does not fully abandon the Kentucky. The KFC foundation and the KFC foundation plan to maintain business offices in Louisville. In addition, KFC still plans to build a new flagship restaurant in its ancient hometown.
From the COVID-19 pandemic, many employers rethink the location of their head office, often stimulated to move due to the drop in taxes and modifications of office space needs due to hybrid or from a distance. With its policies adapted to companies, Texas has been the most popular choice of resettlement, according to a 2023 CBRE report.
In 2020, Yum Rival Papa Johns Has moved its registered office of Louisville to Atlanta. He then canceled plans to sell his former head office, rather choosing to keep the building for workers from companies who stayed in Louisville.
