China humiliated Trump and now he’s in a damage control frenzy

Trump/Xi meetings in China were private. It seems there have been no big breakthroughs or “victories” that Trump can bring back to the United States.

Trump tried to flatter the Chinese leader, who responded with threats against Taiwan.

The Trump trip, where he took with him a group of the world’s richest CEOs, appears to have been a complete failure on all fronts. Republicans were hoping Trump would announce another of his fake deals with China that would help relieve farmers devastated by the president’s toxic combination of war and tariffs, but there was no big announcement.

There was also no announcement on trade, just the typical Chinese vagueness about a more open China in the future.

Xi has for years made remarks about the decline of the West and the rise of China.

The Wall Street Journal noted:

Xi has said in recent years: “The East is booming and the West is declining.” Although the wording refers broadly to “the West,” Chinese leaders, state-controlled media, and political analysts specifically apply the phrase to the United States. Beijing sees U.S. political polarization, societal divisions and economic changes as clear markers of long-term American decline.

Keep Xi’s comments in mind as we talk about an unexpected message posted to Trump’s Truth Social account.
