
The person responsible for the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., is the shooter himself. It is my policy to never name the shooters, so his name will not be mentioned in this story, but the conditions that created the opportunity for the person who committed this senseless act of violence were put in place by the Trump administration.

There are currently approximately 160 West Virginia National Guard troops serving in Washington, D.C., under the guise of a “criminal emergency.” Courts in other jurisdictions have questioned the emergency nature of these deployments, but what is clear is that the two members of the West Virginia National Guard would not have been in Washington, D.C., without Donald Trump’s order and without the West Virginia governor who replaced its president.
The shooter had worked for the CIA during the war in Afghanistan and was allowed to enter the United States in 2021. However, it was the Trump administration that granted him asylum this year.
When a reporter asked Donald Trump how this person was vetted by his administration and granted asylum, the president blew a gasket.
