Everpass Media has signed an agreement with DisneyESPN to distribute live games and other contents of its ESPN + streaming service to bars, restaurants and other commercial establishments in the United States
The offer strengthens the EVERPASS offer for live sports streaming to businesses. Everpass already provides the NFL Sunday Ticket “Sunday Ticket” package, as well as all NFL games that are available exclusively on streaming services this season, like last Friday’s match which was only displayed on AlphabetYouTube.
Live sports reign supreme over most of the other content to attract major public to traditional television and streaming platforms. But while viewers continue to move to streaming, professional leagues are increasingly reporting media rights agreements that see only some games offered via these services – such as the “Thursday evening” package and other exclusive Amazon games.
“You have these streaming games only on different platforms, right? It can sometimes be delicate, even at home, to understand where to go,” said Alex Kaplan, CEO of Everpass, in an interview. “Streaming is clearly there to stay and it will probably continue to be fragmented [for the consumer]. I therefore think that a large part of what we build in our value proposal is to aggregate this content. “”
The multi -year agreement with ESPN has marked the biggest addition of live games by Everpass since its launch in 2023 as a joint venture between the NFL and Redbird Capital Partners. Last year, TkoThe parent company of the UFC and WWE has also become an investor.
From October, ESPN + will be sold as a separate package to new and existing EVERPASS customers.
The addition of ESPN + will be delivered with more than 2,200 live events each year, which includes university football and basketball, NHL, international football, live events from the PGA Tour and the coverage of other major sporting events.
In August, ESPN launched its very first direct streaming application to consumers who includes all the rest of its traditional television content. The unlimited plan for ESPN – the streaming application has the same name as the flagship television network – costs $ 29.99 per month or $ 299.99 per year.
However, the network agreement with EVERPASS will only offer the content of ESPN +, the initial streaming platform of the sports network which has its own games and exclusive coverage distinct from its linear television networks. ESPN + is now part of the ESPN flagship streaming application, and individual consumers can pay the ESPN + content in a level of membership called ESPN Select, which costs $ 11.99 per month or $ 119.99 per year.
For companies, the service is always called ESPN + for the moment.
Everpass has become an alternative option from Directv for the “sunday ticket” matches in the 2023 season. The company had acquired Upshow – a platform with technological capacities to allow commercial establishments to broadcast live sports – for a non -disclosed amount that year.
Before the acquisition, Everpass had also authorized DirectV rights to continue to distribute “Sunday Ticket” to commercial establishments. Until then, Directv had been the only supplier of the game package to companies and consumers. This same season, YouTube TV took over as the owner of the “Sunday Ticket” rights for consumers.
Since then, Everpass has become the business streaming distributor ComcastPeacock, which included exclusive NFL games. It also offers AmazonThe main video for a variety of sports outside the NFL and international football were on Paramount +.
Everpass has become a streaming distributor for channels like Buffalo Wild Wings and Dave & Buster’s, said Kaplan, and the company is looking to develop in various ways. This could include more offers on media rights, in partnership with traditional remuneration television providers such as Charter communications Or being offered in more commercial establishments, he added.
Kaplan told CNBC that Everpass remains in discussions to add more content with the new current and potential partners.
Disclosure: Comcast is the parent company of Nbcuniversal and CNBC.
