President Mike Johnson really wants the 2026 mid-term elections to be on the crime. Johnson also really wants Trump, Trump gets the merit of his fight against photo crime in blue cities.
Johnson said on Wednesday:
We must confirm for the American people that they do not need to fear for their lives when they go to the grocery store or that they take their son or their daughter at school. It is common sense and I cannot, because the life of me understands how democrats think that it is a kind of winning political message that gives man.
Let the troops enter your city and show how crime can be reduced. It is a morale for the country and it is sure and well for all the people involved. So I want to take this route, they will follow this route. But we will continue to talk about common sense and we will continue to deliver.

Why is Johnson so determined to bring Democrats to ask Trump to invade their cities?
The answer dates back to the decision of the California court that Donald Trump cannot use the military for civil laws. The Republicans also fear that the use by Trump of the military will be interrupted by the courts if the troops are not invited to the cities.
Trump used immigration protests as a pretext to invade Los Angeles. Trump did not need a justification to invade Washington, DC, but if he wants to invade other cities, he will need a reason or to be invited.
Cities have shown less interest to invite Trump and his troops, so Johnson tries to put them politically.
While more and more cities are resisting, Trump’s invasion tour seems to lose steam.
Johnson must change the subject of the economy to have chances that the Republicans will maintain the majority of the house, so he floated the distraction of the crime, and if that fails, his speaker time will probably end.
