Netflix has made various consumer experience updates in recent years, but not a major overhaul like this for some time.
Tiktok vertical style video flow will allow users to record or share clips with friends.
“We know that browsing a vertical flow on social media applications is an easy way to browse video content, and we also know that our members like to browse our clips and trailers to find their next obsession,” said Eunice Kim, Director of Netflix products, during a presentation for the media this week.
AI improvements will allow members to use specific sentences when they are looking for what they want to monitor, said Elizabeth Stone, chief director, during the presentation. These features will be fed by Openai, although the models will be trained by a Netflix team in order to adapt the needs of the members, Netflix said on Wednesday.
With the update, Netflix will put all the information that members need to make an informed choice on what to look at “before and center,” said Kim during the call with journalists.
“Our members do a lot of gymnastics for the eyes when they scroll down and right and go back and forth between the lines and the details of the title on the home page,” said Kim.
