Junta air attacks in a besieged region in northwest Myanmar killed eight people and injured dozens of others, Radio Asia Radio residents told Radio residents.

The country’s sagnating region is the epicenter of the two insurgent movements against the military who took control of the country during a coup in 2021 and the recent earthquake of magnitude 7.7 which killed thousands. It houses cities and villages frequently targeted by the soldiers of the junta for raids, a criminal fire, mass arrests and bombardments.

The Air Force of the military regime fell 47 bombs on Nat Chaung, Nat Myaung, Ngapha of the canton of Kale, that Po, Chaung Gwa and Aung Chan Thar Villages on Saturday and Sunday, killing seven women and a man and injuring 28 others, residents said.

Most people in the village of Nat Chaung fled the region, said that a man, who refused to be appointed for security reasons.

“The damage was minimal because people had prepared bombs and air defenses. Depending on the number of bombs fell, the victims could have been much worse,” he said, adding that the number of victims had not yet been fully evaluated because the villagers had fled the region.

Everyone killed was a civilian, he added.

Following a cease-fire agreement with the rebellious army of the National Democratic Alliance in the north of the state of Shan where Lashio was sent back to the junta forces on April 22, the army concentrated attacks against other parts of the country, more and more targeting the Mandalay and Sagaing region.

The National Government of the National Civil Unity of Myanmar, or Nug, made up of politicians ousted during the 2021 coup, criticized the cease-fire agreements concluded with the junta, saying that they often use alliances to increase attacks against other groups.

“If we are unable to unite at the national level and, due to various pressures, to sit down the military or to achieve a kind of agreement with the army, it is a very dangerous situation for us and for the revolution,” said the prime minister’s office spokesman, no Bone Latt. “It is very important for everyone to understand this situation and that the revolutionary forces build a strong unity.”

The junta forces bombed the country 225 times from the earthquake from March 28 to April 29, half of the attacks occurring in the sagaing and mandalay regions, according to data compiled by the NUG. The attacks killed 242 people, including 29 children and injured 391.

The Myanmar army declared a ceasefire from April 2 to 30.

The FRG called the Junta spokesperson, Major-General Zaw Min Tun for more information, but he did not respond to the time of publication.
