Representative Gerry Connolly has announced in a letter to his voters difficult news.
The representative Connolly wrote:
I want to start by thank you for your good wishes and your compassion when I continue to attack my diagnosis. Your effusion of love and support gave me strength in my fights – both against cancer and in our collective defense of democracy.
When I announced my diagnosis six months ago, I promised transparency. After exhausting treatments, we learned that cancer, while initially beaten, has now returned. I will do everything possible to continue to represent you and thank you for your grace.
The sun sets on my time in the public service, and it will be my last mandate in the congress. I will soon come back as a classification member of the supervisory committee. Without resentment and a full heart, I go up in this last chapter full of pride of what we have accomplished together over 30 years. My loving family and my staff support me. My extended family – You have all been a joy to serve.
The Democrats of the Chamber chose the Connolly representative to be the member of the powerful supervisory committee of the representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). I thought it was a mistake at the time, But the Connolly representative was exceptional on the committee. He took the fight to the Republicans and admirably served.
The Caucus of the Democratic Chamber will have another election to choose the next classification member of the most powerful committee in the Chamber.
In the meantime, Politicususa and our readers want the representative Connolly to be the strength and a positive result while he is fighting against cancer.
