Given Trump’s contempt for the judicial branch of the United States government, it is not surprising that his administration took the authoritarian measure of the arrest of the judges for having allegedly hampered immigration measures.

Representative Jamie Raskin explained in a statement why Trump’s actions are not as usual:
The Americans look with the indignation of the superb news that Trump’s FBI arrested a judge in office in Milwaukee for alleged obstruction of an arrest in the field of immigration. Although not all the facts are in progress, the implications of this arrest are frightening. It is a drastic escalation and a dangerous new front in Trump’s authoritarian campaign to try to intimidate, intimidate and dismiss the judges who will not follow his dictates. We must do everything we can to defend the independent judicial power in America.
While judge Wilkinson, a renovated Reagan curator at the fourth circuit, reminded us last week, this administration showed a cheeky contempt for the judiciary. They flout the judicial orders daily and try to dismiss judges who have scored injunctions against their anarchy. This contempt for the judicial function is now under arms, the administration literally arrested a judge about an alleged distrust.
Each American should be deeply disturbed by this massive escalation, and judicial democrats are strong for judicial independence. It is an unmistakable descent further into authoritarian chaos.
What Trump does is trying to intimidate the judges.
