When people think about corruption in the federal government, the focus is always on Donald Trump. Trump critics have long believed that once Trump is gone, corruption will disappear with him, but corruption within the second Trump administration appears to be much deeper and systemic.

Trump has accomplished this goal by attracting loyalists who share his contempt for good government to federal law enforcement positions.

Kash Patel is an example of the type of person Trump wanted to oversee federal law enforcement. The current director of the FBI has been accused of excessive alcohol consumption, abused government travel, and he was seen partying with the men’s hockey team at the Winter Olympics at taxpayers’ expense.
According to House Judiciary Democrats, Patel also runs a slush fund with taxpayer money that rewards MAGA loyalists within the FBI.
House Judiciary Democrats posted on X:
Judicial Democrats found that FBI Director Kash Patel paid more than $1 million in illegal, taxpayer-funded bounties to a small group of MAGA operatives and members of Patel’s personal security detail.
As House Judiciary Democrats have pointed out, Patel appears to be breaking the law.
