The shooting and murder of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents was so egregious that it even caused mainstream media to openly question and challenge the Trump administration.
CNN’s Dana Bash interviewed Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino. Before even bringing him to State Of The Union, she released the video of the shooting which showed Alex Pretti unarmed and holding a cell phone.

Bash’s first question to Bovino was: “And I want to ask you about what you see, because several angles of this incident show him holding a cell phone and recording it, not a gun. Did he at any point pull out his gun?”
Bovino responded: “The gun and — we know that the suspect brought a gun, a loaded high-capacity 9-millimeter handgun, to a riot. We know that.
As for what happened at that time with the video you just showed, that will be revealed during the investigation. This is under investigation. And these facts and questions will soon be answered. »
Bash attacked the administration’s assertion that Pretti was brandishing a gun, and the Border Patrol chief responded:
I think what we need to look at here is the bigger picture. What happened before this situation?
The suspect decided to get involved in a law enforcement action. What is not stated here is the fact that Border Patrol agents and law enforcement were conducting a targeted action against a violent illegal alien who was nearby, and that suspect injected himself into this law enforcement situation with a weapon.
And what happened between the time this situation occurred and the shooting, that will be investigated and we will get to the facts on that.
What Bovino was doing was moving the goal posts. Bovino never provided evidence or answered questions. For more than 20 minutes, Bash presented video evidence and pressed Bovino, and the interview continued to get worse for the administration.
