Mike Johnson and Trump’s Agriculture Secretary held a press conference on SNAP, and it was a disaster

The government shutdown is poised to impact tens of millions of Americans as the Trump administration refuses to fund nutrition assistance for 41.7 million Americans, the vast majority of whom are children, seniors and people with disabilities.

Republicans have shut down the government by refusing to negotiate the Democratic votes needed in the Senate to keep the government open. The Republicans thought they could finance the government on their own.

After realizing they couldn’t, Republicans assumed that Democrats would agree to raise insurance premiums for 23 million Americans and 4 million people would lose coverage.

The Democrats refused and have not budged an inch in the last month.

Democrats have made it clear they will only vote in favor of a government funding bill restoring Obamacare subsidies for the American people.

A new poll on the shutdown, presented Thursday to Democratic leaders, showed that, by a margin of nearly 2 to 1 (60% to 34%), voters said it was more important to reduce health care costs than to reopen the government.

Trump, Thune and Johnson are still trying to win the messaging war to blame Democrats for the shutdown, when what voters really care about is the lower health care costs Democrats are fighting for.

The situation turns into a total disaster when they fail to even get the right message across, which is what happened to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and President Mike Johnson on Friday.

Rollins and Johnson completely missed the message.

Read and watch the video below to see what Rollins and Johnson said.
