CEO of Aercap on Tariff Impact: A Boeing 787 will increase by $ 40 million

The price of a Boeing The 787 aircraft could increase by $ 40 million in the worst price of prices, Aercap CEO Aengus Kelly said.

“In an absolute worst scenario, for example, an increase of 25% at all prices, a tit-form on both sides-a Boeing 787, the price will increase by $ 40 million,” Kelly said on the “Squawk box” on CNBC. “No one will want to pay this.”

In this type of scenario, Kelly said that most of the airlines would likely turn to Airbus, which could give this company the opportunity to take 75% to 80% of the world market.

Aercap,, The largest aircraft rental company in the world, bought 150 planes, helicopters and spare motors last year in Boeing, added Kelly.

Although it is too early to determine the exact impacts of the increase in pricing tensions, the world economy reacted to the plans of President Donald Trump, with the last addition of prices of 25% on imports of steel and aluminum to enter into force on Wednesday, which led to rapid countermeasures of the European Union.

Despite a chaotic year of problems for Boeing, Kelly said that Earcap, who is the largest buyer of aeronautical assets in the world, has experienced recent improvement in the quality, reliability and safety of Boeing products.

Looking at 2025 for Boeing, Kelly pointed out that what the manufacturer really needs is money to reliably deliver planes. Despite a rocky year for the aircraft manufacturer, Kelly said that he had “never had any hesitation” to set up a Boeing plane and that the company’s manufacturing process has improved considerably.

“Boeing has made huge steps in terms of quality, security and reliability in the past year,” said Kelly. “We see it because we are in the workshop buying planes every day.”

Kelly also said that despite the concerns of a plane trip recession and a lower demand Delta airlines Managed, it remains optimistic, the company continues to see strong global demand. The current “flexible patch”, he said, was motivated by labor costs.
