Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is the only Democrat in the Senate representing a state that Trump won in 2024 which is ready to re-elect in 2026.

Trump on Down’s Republicans tried to recruit a popular republican governor Brian Kemp against Senator Ossoff for months.
KEMP announced on Monday that he would not show up in the Senate next year. Kemp said The Atlanta newspaper, “After these discussions, I decided that being on the ballot next year is not the right decision for me and my family.”
Kemp has long been considered a candidate for the potential republican presidential in 2028, and those who are close to him sent signals that the governor did not show up for the Senate.
This means in practical terms, it is that the Republicans have lost their best recruit for any race in the Senate, and in Georgia, it is a crisis, because the other potential republican candidates do not have the profile or popularity to be candidates in the American Senate potentially successful.
