For example, in a recent letter calling on Amazon’s Jeff Bezos to testify before Congress, Senator Sanders wrote:
As you know, the pace of technological advancements in robotics, automation and artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly accelerated in recent years. These revolutionary technologies will have a profound impact on the lives of virtually every American worker.
Our job is to ensure that this new technology benefits working families and is not just used as another tool to unimaginably enrich the world’s richest people… The American people are increasingly concerned about the impact that AI and robotics will have on the economy and on their lives. Congress must act. The HELP committee must act.
Sanders and AOC will take the first steps toward this necessary action by unveiling new legislation on Wednesday.
