Trump continues to try to give himself imaginary awards and put his name on every building. Trump is destroying the White House and is madly obsessed with leaving a legacy behind for good reason.
Donald Trump is failing as president, and not just in our partisan, polarized way of defining failure in politics. Trump has sunk to a particular level of overall failure that is leading a large majority of the country to admit it and, more importantly, to tell Trump and his party that they see his failure.
In the latest CNN poll, 58% of respondents said the first year of Trump’s second term was a failure.
It’s the depth and the way they describe failure that is striking.
Donald Trump does not have a positive approval rating on any issue or aspect of how he does his job as president.
Here are some figures from CNN:
A majority of 55% say Trump’s policies have made the country’s economic situation worse, with only 32% saying they have made an improvement. Most, 64%, believe he has not gone far enough in his attempt to reduce the price of everyday consumer goods. Even within the GOP, about half say it should do more, including 42% among Republicans and Republican-leaning voters who describe themselves as members of the “Make America Great Again” movement.
Much of the public doubts that Trump puts his interests first. Only 36% now believe that he had the right priorities, compared to 45% at the start of his mandate. Only a third of Americans now say they believe Trump cares about people like them, down from 40% last March and the worst mark of his political career.
These numbers are bad, but a closer look shows that things are much worse.
